Filming at the skills show

A day’s filming at the skills show

The week we spent an interesting day filming for EU – Skills at the Skills Show at the Birmingham NEC. The filming was carried out as part of a wider project to promote traineeships in the energy and utilities sector to potential employers. We spoke to three representatives of major employers within the sector (SSE, Alstom and E-ON) about there experience with traineeships and how the benefited both the employer and the trainee.

We structured the interviews in an informal way, with a list of prompt questions which would allow the interviewee to speak about their own experience and put forward their own point of view, they spoke with great enthusiasm about the benefits that traineeships have bought to their organisations and how rewarding it is to work with young people who are looking to start their careers in this sector.

nick filming at the NEC

Our cameraman for the day was Nick Curtis from New Forest Productions, it was a great pleasure to work with Nick and he did an excellent job filming on a busy, noisy exhibition stand. Nick uses a Sony XDCAM and provided us with the raw files which we imported into Adobe Premiere for editing. The final results can be see here
